Available in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
Rules for completing this course
You must complete 144 credit points, comprising: - Part C. Core specialist studies (108 credit points); - Part D. Professional practice (0 credit points); and - Part E. Elective studies (36 credit points).
Part C. Core specialist studies
108 cpYou must complete 108 credit points, comprising: - the following units (102 credit points); and - one unit (6 credit points) from the Professional Practice domain list.
- ENG2005Advanced engineering mathematics6 cp
- MMA2001Design 16 cp
- MMA2002Solid mechanics 1 6 cp
- MMA2003Thermofluids 16 cp
- MMA2004Dynamics 16 cp
- MMA2005Modelling and control6 cp
- MAE3001Aero and gas dynamics6 cp
- MAE3002Aerospace dynamics 26 cp
- MAE3401Aerodynamics 26 cp
- MAE3405Aerospace propulsion6 cp
- MAE3411Aerospace structural mechanics6 cp
- MMA3001Numerical methods and machine learning6 cp
- MAE4410Flight vehicle design6 cp
- MAE4416Orbital mechanics and spaceflight dynamics6 cp
- MMA4001Finite element analysis6 cp
- ENG4701Final year project A6 cp
- ENG4702Final year project B6 cp
Professional Practice domain
6 cpYou must complete 6 credit points from the following units
Part D. Professional practice
Continuous professional development is a crucial part of meeting the Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competency Standard to be a Professional Engineer. You must enrol in the following unit in your final year and satisfy the professional development requirements.
- ENG0001Engineering continuous professional development0 cp
Part E. Elective studies
36 cpYou must complete 36 credit points, comprising: - In year 2: 12 credit points at Level 1, 2 or 3 from the Faculty of Engineering or other faculties; - In years 3 and 4: 24 credit points at Level 3, 4 or 5 from the Technical electives list. Note 1: Electives must be completed at the required unit level to satisfy the course requirements. Note 2: You may use your elective studies to complete an engineering minor, or any unit from an engineering minor, that will complement your specialisation. If you select a single unit you must ensure you meet the unit prerequisites or co-requisite rules. This will allow you to tailor your studies and broaden your knowledge within the field of engineering while still aligning with your chosen specialisation. Note 3: You may enrol in up to two units (12 credit points) at Level 5. To be eligible to enrol in Level 5 units, you must obtain a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 or above at the conclusion of Level 3 and be in your final year of study. If you intend to enrol in the Master of Engineering, completing Level 5 units that are core in the Master's course will reduce the total duration of your Master's study. Double degree students are not required to complete this Part. The 36 credit points of aerospace engineering technical electives normally required in the single degree have been credited towards the double degree structure and therefore not a requirement in the double degree courses.
