What it covers
In this course, you will investigate a diverse range of conceptual and technical aspects of contemporary abstraction. You will experiment with scale, colour, composition, pattern, structure, surface and matter. You will explore processes of abstraction, reduction, the non-objective, gesture, play and chance associations as strategies for making. Cultural influences on the development of abstraction will be considered. You will be encouraged to develop your own approach to contemporary abstraction utilising a range of methods of making such as painting, print, digital technologies, drawing, collage, photography and the readymade object. Projects will encourage processes of documentation and reflection to inform and extend your studio work.
