What it covers
This unit provides a theoretical and practical introduction to contemporary enterprise systems and their role in integrating business processes, data and organisational functions. It examines how enterprise systems support coordination, information flows and decision making across functional and organisational boundaries. Topics include the evolution and architecture of enterprise systems, integrated business processes, implementation and configuration, organisational and technological challenges, and factors influencing enterprise system success and failure. You will critically examine real-world cases to understand how organisations select, implement and use enterprise systems, and how these systems create both opportunities and trade-offs. Practical activities using a contemporary enterprise system will provide hands-on experience with integrated business processes and deepen your understanding of how enterprise systems operate in organisational settings.
