What it covers
This unit introduces you to theoretical perspectives intended to contribute towards a reconfiguration of childhoods and offer imaginary possibilities for you to rethink what it means for children living in an increasingly complex and ever-changing world. You will engage with research to explore a range of issues in relation to contemporary global and local childhoods. This includes foci on gender, environmental and more-than-human perspectives to broaden understandings of challenges and possibilities facing children as citizens with rights. You will be encouraged to think creatively, ethically and critically about your responsibilities and sensitivities as teachers who make informed judgements and decisions that affect children’s childhoods, and children’s agency as global citizens.
