What it covers
Mathematics is the language of economic reasoning, and fluency in that language requires more than the ability to execute procedures. In this unit you will develop mathematical understanding through a mix of conceptual and application based study of the two fundamental objects of mathematical economics: sets and functions. It covers the structure of sets, the properties of mappings between them, and the key properties of functions. By focusing on transferable habits like pattern recognition, classification, and generalisation, you will be equipped to formulate, solve, and critically interpret problems across a broad range of economic contexts.
