What it covers
This unit examines the legal foundations of Australia’s banking and finance regulatory framework, focusing on the rights and obligations of financial institutions, regulators, and customers. You will explore the legal and ethical standards governing the provision of financial advice and assess the regulatory principles underpinning consumer credit activities. The unit also addresses the statutory compliance requirements imposed on reporting entities under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) regime. In addition, you will investigate the regulation of electronic banking and payment systems, alongside the emerging challenges and regulatory gaps created by technological innovation and the ongoing disruption of traditional banking practices, including FinTech.
