What it covers
In this unit, you will develop knowledge and professional skills in Chinese translation across a range of professional communication contexts. You will critically analyse source texts by considering genre, communicative purpose, audience, register and cultural context, and apply appropriate translation strategies to authentic Chinese and English texts. Working with authentic texts from media and public communication, corporate and organisational communication, and creative and cultural communication, you will develop bilingual communication skills, intercultural competence and practical translation skills. You will also develop professional judgement through reflective translation practice, critical evaluation of translation decisions, and the appropriate use of digital translation technologies and AI, preparing you for translation practice in contemporary intercultural contexts.
